Wee Wander Girls’ Tunics
When we first saw Sarah Jane’s Wee Wander fabric, we knew it would be perfect for all of our little girls! We paired the border print and the seafoam horses with the Olivia Top Pattern from Jess at Craftiness is not Optional. Last Monday, we spent all day sewing up a bunch of these tops in kid sizes ranging from 2 to 7! With five little girl cousins in our family, we couldn’t resist doing one for each of them.
It was a pretty fun and easy sew, but all of the little details x 5 really adds up! We chose the elbow-length sleeve option and the top variation (as opposed to the dress length). The button placket and bias tape (find our tutorial on making your own bias tape here) around the neckline were both made with the border print fabric.
There were three of us sewing these up assembly-line style, with one of us sewing, another ruffling, and another ironing.
So much ruffling!
We also serged all of the seams to reduce fraying on the inside.
The little girls picked out sparkly buttons from the stash for their shirts. Who doesn’t need a little more sparkle? Here are a few more pictures of the Olivia Top in action:
These tops are going to be perfect paired with leggings for cooler weather this fall, and the colors will also be great next spring! Every mom knows that versatility is always great for kids’ clothing. The only thing we wish we would have done is get some size labels to sew into the necklines, but we absolutely love how these tops turned out!
