Spring Wreath Quilt Along: Prep Weeks
We’re just two weeks away from starting our first quilt along of the year with Spring Wreath! (You can find the quilt along schedule for the year by clicking here). You will need a copy of our Piece & Love book to follow along with this particular quilt along.
We thought it would be a good idea to give you a couple of weeks before each quilt along to source fabrics and get everything ready to go. We encourage you to visit your local quilt shop if you need to grab any extra fabric, but this will also give to time to order online if you prefer that route. Here’s what we’re using:
We were lucky enough to have a stash capable of sourcing all of the fabric for this quilt. For the background fabric, we’re using Brushed in Snow, which is a versatile basic from Ruby Star Society. We love it so much that we got a whole bolt! The only downside of it is that the brush strokes are in sort of a stripe pattern, so it is technically a directional print. However, the contrast is so low that we don’t think it’s too noticeable if they aren’t all going the same direction. We won’t even worry about trying to keep it all the same for this quilt, either. If that would bother you, we suggest going with a solid or a basic without a directional print.
The variety of colors are from all different manufacturers, including Art Gallery, Cotton + Steel, Riley Blake, Andover, Moda, and Ruby Star Society. You’ll notice that we are choosing colors that follow the shades in the original quilt. This makes it easy to follow the placement diagrams. You will need seven different greens, three blues, three pinks, and a yellow. We are using bright colors that remind us of spring flowers, which is what the pinks, blues, and yellow are meant to represent within the wreath.
