Audrey’s Ribbon Box Quilt
Every once in a while, there’s a quilt that is just begging to be made. This Ribbon Box Quilt is one of those for us! This quilt is a free pattern offered by Cloud 9 Fabrics, and we thought it would be a great way to showcase all those beloved prints that you sometimes can’t bear to use. What better way to preserve them than in a quilt!
The pattern was well-written and easy to sew. We love the random ribbon tails here and there, and that it’s not totally the same everywhere. The ribbons reminded us of bookmarks, so we thought this throw size quilt would make a great reading nook quilt.
Fabrics for this quilt are from a variety of our favorite designers: Anna Maria Horner, Tula Pink, Sarah Jane, Heather Ross, and Carolyn Gavin. The backing is a flannel from Jo-Ann Fabrics that we picked up on one of their great sales.
We quilted this one on a domestic machine (Audrey doesn’t live with the long arm), using big loops on the white background and a meandering stripe on the ribbons.
So much fun color and texture going on here! The binding matches one of the ribbons. It’s a print from the Slow and Steady line by Tula Pink, and those little trophies are just too fun.
We hope you found this quilt inspiring! Now that the quilt is done, maybe we can start on the reading nook next…
Gorgeous! I downloaded this quilt pattern to our computer a few years back from the Cloud9, but I haven’t gotten around to making it. I love the fact that you used this pattern to show off some of your favorite fabrics. Thanks for the incentive!
I am new to pinterest, how do you download free pattern on computer?
The pattern is not on Pinterest. It’s on the Cloud 9 Fabrics website.
I’ve made this quilt (Nordic Ribbons) twice. Once for a friend and then for her friend. I plan to make it several more times. It’s easy to make in spite of the fact that it looks complicated. I machine quilted long lines the length of the quilt instead of a free motion pattern. It came out lovely! Pay attention to the cutting and you can’t go wrong.
