Quilts We’ve Made: Swoon Sixteen Quilt for 2017 #SwoonAlong
It seems like every once in a while, there is a quilt that just comes out of nowhere and pushes everything else out of the way. For us, this is one of those quilts. Camille Roskelley, of Thimble Blossoms and Bonnie & Camille fame, is the designer of this pattern, called Swoon Sixteen. It’s a variation of her very popular Swoon quilt, with smaller blocks and three colors per block instead of two.
Every once in a while, Camille hosts a “Swoon along” on Instagram, and this was the time that we finally joined in the fun. For our quilt, we used a blue crossweave for the background (Moda’s Chambray color), with coordinating prints in light and dark neutrals, plus bursts of minty green.
Most of the prints are from Cotton+Steel or Art Gallery Fabrics, but there are also a few lone wolves thrown in there. We just love to mix and match with whatever works! The Farm Fun fabric line provided a fun and coordinating print for the backing, as seen below blowing in the winter winds.
Overall, we were happy with the pattern. The biggest draw for us on this pattern is that it uses a fat quarter of each print, which we have lying about all over the place.
We had a lot of fun sharing our progress photos on our Instagram account! Maybe you’ll join us? We share a lot of things there that never make it into a full blog post, and we would love to see you there. As much as we love designing our own patterns, sometimes it’s nice to make a quick quilt without having to do all the brain work, and this Swoon Sixteen ranks near the top of our favorite quilt finishes!
Diane and Audrey,
Your swoon sixteen quilt is absolutely beautiful.
All the other ones I’ve seen look the same.
With your one the whole package
from b’ground colour to the quilting
is a joy to see.
Thank you, Jan! We really enjoyed making this quilt, and making it unique, so we’re glad you like it, too.
