Quilts We’ve Made: Spooky Ladder Halloween Quilt
Do you remember Diane’s Halloween quilt from last year? Wait, you don’t? Well, we tried to forget it, too. It was never finished, because something about it really bothered us. Take a look at the original below:See that row of black and white ghosts right in the middle? This year, we pulled it out and decided that it was the problem, and that we were going to fix it. We pulled a neutral gray polka dot from our stash to replace it. The gray breaks up the bold patterns and adds some contrast. We think it works! We also added some borders out of our favorite black cat print. Amazingly, this cat looks just like the Black Cat Road sign found near Meridian, Idaho, back in the day. We quilted it in a jaggedy zig zag, kind of like the prints in the quilt. We often use the fabric as inspiration for the quilting design.
Boo-tiful! We can finally display it without shame. The wide borders on the top and bottom add extra height for tall husbands. We’ve heard in the past about lap quilts that are too short, and we took note. We hope this adds a little bit of cheer to your holiday season, and gives you hope for the project duds stuffed in your closet.
