Quilts We’ve Made: Snowmen on Parade
One of our favorite holiday quilts we’ve made is “Snowmen on Parade” by Under the Garden Moon.
We made this cute little seasonal number in one of my quilt guilds and it went together quite easily. The snowmen strip was the most involved, but was fun because the snow bodies are actually strips of different whites sewn together and then cut out to needle-turn applique.
I did follow the pattern pretty closely but couldn’t understand why snowmen would be against a green/beige background. To brighten them up, I added a blue sky while still keeping to the Christmas colors. I also tweaked the star strip, added a couple of extra borders, and used felt for the snowmen hats and scarves. I got a lot of “I didn’t know you could do that” about the felt. Ha ha. I have gotten a lot of that over the years, but the real truth was that I was in a hurry to finish and rationalized that scarves and hats are usually wool anyway. Now we all love to applique with wool!
As usual, it has a flannel back for coziness and it looks rather festive hanging on the banister; that is, when it’s not wrapped around somebody!

I absolutely love this quilt. Can you tell me where to find the pattern?
We still have the pattern. Contact us if you are interested in buying it used from us!
Do you still have the snowmen on parade pattern? I’ve been searching the Internet and can’t find it anywhere!
We don’t have a copy anymore. Sorry! It seems like it’s getting hard to find.
This is so cute! Do you still have the pattern or know where I might find it. I’ve been searching the internet and shops and haven’t been able to locate it.
Thank you!
Sorry, we don’t still have the pattern. We got it through a local quilt guild, so I don’t know where you might be able to find it besides another quilt shop. Good luck!
