Quilting Notions
Here are a few of our most-used tools and notions that any quilter would love! (affiliate links)
OLFA 6″ x 12″ Quilting Ruler: This is our most-used ruler for everything besides cutting WOF strips. The lines are super thin, so you can see exactly what you’re doing.
Organ Titanium 80/12 Needles: These bad boys last much longer than regular needles and do the job right.
BobbinSaver: This silicone ring holds onto all of your bobbins and keeps them from getting lost, unraveled, or tangled up. Ours sit right beside our machines for easy access.
Little Ruler Gripper: Hold onto tiny rulers much easier with this little handle. It helps keep smaller rulers from slipping, and keeps your fingers further away from the rotary blade!
OLFA Endurance Blade: Speaking of rotary blades, this is our favorite one. The endurance blade last forever (just don’t run over any pins!) and cuts like butter. Be very careful with this powerful blade.
Diagonal Seam Tape: We have this washi tape on both of our machines. It marks the needle line and 1/4″ on each side of the needle. This helps us avoid having to mark diagonal lines on smaller squares, saving lots of time!
FriXion Eraseable Markers: When we can’t avoid marking lines, we love using these erasable markers. We’ve also used the FriXion pens, but the markers work on fabric much better. The lines disappear when ironed, but they can come back in low temperatures, so we never use them for a part of the quilt that will show.
Crafter’s Comfort Gloves: If your hands get tired while hand sewing, these gloves will help! We throw them on before hand binding a quilt or doing lots of rotary cutting.
Glass Head Patchwork Pins: We like to use these glass head pins because they don’t melt if you iron them, and the metal is thin enough that it doesn’t leave noticeable holes in your fabric.
Sewing Clips: If you want an alternative to pins, these sewing clips are great! We use them interchangeably with pins, and they are especially useful for holding things you don’t want to put a hole in, like cork fabric.
Sewing Supplies Sticker Bundle: Lastly, we wanted to show you our brand new set of sewing themed stickers! This 2″ sticker set would make a great little gift.
