Piece & Love Quilt Along: Week 1
Welcome to the first week of the Piece & Love Quilt Along! If you don’t already have the pattern, now’s the time to grab yourself a copy. Get the PDF pattern to get started right away, or get the Paper pattern mailed to you ASAP. Since this week is all about choosing your fabrics, you’ll still a week before we start cutting!
Alright, let’s get talking about choosing your fabrics. For the Piece & Love Quilt, you’ll need a good variety of prints and colors for the heart. We’re using Alison Glass’s Observatory batiks. It’s a good idea to choose a color range with small increments to give the heart some dimension.
You will also need two colors for the background stripes. This time around, we’re doing a bold white/saffron combo in Moda’s Bella solids.
Look at that great color range! You can get the required squares from a fat eighth, or you can save yourself a step and grab 5″ square precuts. Just make sure that you have enough squares as we have listed in the pattern! Typically, that is two precut packs. You can also use 10″ squares for this, but you will have to do a little bit more cutting.
