Paint Box Quilt Along: Prep Weeks
We’re two weeks away from starting our next quilt along with Paint Box! (You can find the quilt along schedule for the year by clicking here). You will need a copy of our Piece & Love book to follow along with this particular quilt along. We’re excited to explore a little bit of paper piecing with this next quilt! It’s also a fantastic way to try out curved corners and using bias binding.
We thought it would be a good idea to give you a couple of weeks before each quilt along to source fabrics and get everything ready to go. We encourage you to visit your local quilt shop if you need to grab any extra fabric, but this will also give to time to order online if you prefer that route. Here’s what we’re using:
We are using Ruby Star Society’s Speckled basics for the paint colors and binding, Zip Metallic in Blue Raspberry for the paintbrush handle, Moda’s Bella solid in Super White for the background, and Speckled Confetti for the backing.
We have a layer cake of both the original Speckled colors and the newest set of colors (affiliate links), in order to get the full rainbow spectrum for the paints. There will be a lot of squares leftover, so just be aware of that if you decide to go this route. You might be able to use Speckled charm packs, since most colors have duplicate squares, but you will need two 5″ squares of nearly every color, so keep that in mind.
Look at all those yummy colors! The paint speckles just feel right for this quilt, too. If you’d like to use the same fabric as our original quilt, we used the Cross Stitch fabric line by Alison Glass. You can get a layer cake here! (affiliate link)
