Midnight Candy Shoppe Quilt
Hello! We have a really fun quilt to show you today. This is our Candy Shoppe Quilt pattern, and this quilt top was one we made from the scraps of our Dyehouse Quilt, during our Candy Shoppe Quilt Along earlier this year.
We’re calling this one the Midnight Candy Shoppe, and it definitely makes a statement.
We used Moda’s crossweave in Black for the background, which adds a really nice texture. It’s also very loosely woven, by nature, so the threads ravel easily. It also stretches more than regular quilting cotton, so keep that in mind if you want to give it a try.
This is the throw size of the quilt, which is perfect for tossing on the sofa.
Although we finished this quilt top at the start of the year, it sat in a pile of other unfinished quilts for a few months, while other projects took over for a while. It’s always nice to pull something like this out and get it finished!
We used this beautiful Anna Maria Horner print for the backing. So pretty!
For the quilting, we did what we’re calling Organic Matchsticks. Basically, we just quilted freehand straight lines back and forth across the quilt. We did purposely give it a little movement, so it’s not exactly straight. It’s a new favorite!
The crossweave also has a little bit of sheen, which makes it a little difficult to photograph the depth of the background colors. If you ever get a chance to see it in person, it is absolutely stunning! Want to make your own Candy Shoppe Quilt?

very lovely quilt! the grey tone really sets the background for the pop of colors. Also love the backing. Thank you for sharing with us
