I Spy Blog Hop
We have something fun to share with you today! Kimie and Missy from On Williams Street sent us a copy of their brand new I Spy book, which is full of 100 foundation paper pieced block patterns. We love this fresh take on the I Spy quilt, plus you can just use the blocks for other little things, like we did. Want to see?
We used the Santa hat, present, and star blocks to make these cute little mug rugs as teacher gifts for my kids’ schoolteachers this year.
Pair these with a cute mug filled with chocolates, and you’ve got yourself a bunch of simple, partially handmade gifts.
We added 1.5″ borders to each of the blocks to make these about 6″ square, which is just perfect to act as a fabric coaster.
For the quilting on the Santa hat, we did free motion loops with our Bernina Stitch Regulator (BSR) foot. The star was done with a walking foot.
These little presents are just so cute. We could have used the tree, but these were just too festive to only make one!
The straight line quilting was done with a walking foot, and the wavy lines were done with the BSR. It is possible to do that with a walking foot, but it’s not as easy on a small scale.
We did machine binding to get these little blocks finished off quickly, and now we’re ahead of the game for Christmas gifts!
We’re thinking that it would make a great 100 day project to make this whole quilt, making one block a day. If you’d like to get a copy of the book, you can get 10% off with code “ISPYBLOGHOP“.
This offer is good Nov 30-Dec 16. Be sure to visit all of the other makers on the blog hop to see what else you can make.

Very nice, would be a fun game for kids if you had 2 of each.
These are adorable! Very modern looking and would look nice with my Christmas decor! Take care, Mary.
My favorite part of quilting is giving the finished project to someone who will appreciate it.
