Make This: Heart Garland Tutorial
We are so excited to share today’s sewing tutorial. This cute tutorial is brought to you by a member of the newly-formed Cloth Parcel Creative Team! Linda shares with us a quick and easy heart garland that is perfect for Valentine’s Day or to brighten up any space. Items you will need:
1. yarn
2. 15 pairs of hearts (about 3″ tall) cut from red/pink/white fabric scraps
3. 15 hearts (same size the fabric ones) cut from Pellon (heavyweight)
4. scissors and sewing machineStarting about 18″ from the end of you yarn, sew the yarn to your pellon hearts – vertically right down the center with a zig-zag stitch to hold the yarn in place. I spaced my hearts about an inch apart. After you have sewn all 15 pellon hearts to the yarn, you can cut your yarn 18″ from your last heart.
You will then sew the fabric heart pairs onto the pellon. Decide what order or pattern you want before you begin this step. Slide one heart underneath (right-side facing down) and another on top (right-side facing up). I used a straight stitch to do this. Here you can see my chain of hearts. You can just cruise along! Once you have your hearts cut out, this project is quick! You probably can even combine steps one and two if you want a zig-zag stitch or other decorative stitch showing. Just make sure it catches the yarn below the fabric.Cut the loose threads between each heart!Done!
