“Forever Bound” LDS Museum Quilt
We are excited to share our art quilt that was featured in the 2012 LDS Church International Art Competition at the Church History Museum and in the March 2013 issue of The Ensign. The inspiration for this embellished applique quilt came from the traditional Baltimore Album Quilt, folk art story quilts, and Persian carpet designs. Each appliquéd picture block depicts a blessing the Lord has bestowed on His children. The border includes figs to represent the parable of the fig tree, grapes to represent the Lord’s vineyard, and compass points and folk-art angels to represent the gospel spreading to the four corners of the world. The four center tree-of-life blocks each contain a symbol representing the love and presence of God. The kinds and numbers of birds and flowers in each block have their own symbolic meanings as well.
We are excited to announce that we are now offering the “Forever Bound” pattern in a block-of-the-month format, and our first block pattern, the Bridal Couple, is ready for download. This block will be followed by 8 more applique blocks, the tree of life blocks, the triangle blocks, and the border. You will be able to create your own heirloom quilt; or, the individual applique blocks can also be turned the other direction to create a stunning pillow top.
