Diane’s Small World Quilt
We have been finishing some UFO’s and we can’t wait to share some of our summer projects with you! This is a version of Jen Kingwell’s My Small World Quilt (affiliate link*). The original is just one world, right side up, but we wanted to have a larger quilt so we doubled up. This one has two small worlds, with each nearly identical one facing the other direction.
There are a ton of many small pieces in this project, with the sky blocks finishing at just 1″ square, but it is also a ton of fun to see the shapes take form.
A variety of techniques are used in this pattern: regular piecing, paper piecing, template piecing, embroidery (if you want to–we used printed fabric to do the trick of European buildings instead of embroidering them), and applique. And because of the tiny pieces, it is a great way to use scraps and bust into that glorious stash of yours.
It is backed with cute party bears by Cotton & Steel, and quilted with diagonal straight lines and other things as dictated by the piecing.
More fun projects to follow!
